Field Service Technician
Location Regina, Winnipeg, Calgary, Quebec and Toronto
Reports to Manager Field Services
Department Operations
Primary Function Key responsibilities include: work closely with internal team members to provide “best case” solutions for customers. Provide excellent on-site and remote customer service. Must be able to work independently, under high-pressure, deadline sensitive time frames and be able to resolve a variety of complex requests. The relationship is such that we provide support and direction outside of regular business hours to our VIP customers.
Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service and product knowledge within the Technical area of Telecommunications both hardware and software.
  • Assist with technical areas of sales, support and product implementations.
  • Work closely with internal team members to provide “best case” solutions for customers.
  • Work as the lead technician for installations and implementations.
  • Assist with technical areas of sales, support and product implementations.
  • Provide Technical Support on minor and major system problems.
  • MAC (moves, adds and changes).
  • Support Sub-Contractors.
  • Completion of supporting documentation.
  • On-Call and overtime may be required.

Nortel Technician Requirements
  • M1, Succession, Symposium
  • Call Pilot, Meridian Mail
  • BCM 50, 200, 400
  • CS1000 (release 5.0 an asset)
Requirements
  • Avaya ,Cisco, and Nortel Certifications.
  • Certification in VOIP or Data Certifications will be considered an asset.
  • 3 – 5 years telecommunication experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service techniques.
  • Self-motivated and outstanding work ethics.
  • Call centre implementation and service experience an asset.
  • Previously knowledge of SIMS will be considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license with a driver’s abstract
Desired Skills & Experience
Education & Experience:
  • Expert level Certification on products serviced by Connex (Avaya, Cisco (CCNP), Nortel.
  • 10 years working in telecommunications industry
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good command of the English language both written and verbal
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Superior knowledge of telecom, datacom, IP and related technologies and applications
  • Has a logical mind and can work well under pressure
  • Energetic and self-motivated with a passion for the customer
  • Team player comfortable working with minimum supervision.
  • Skill in exercising independent and prudent judgment.

Technician Tier 1
Location All branches
Reports to Manager Field Services
Department Operations
Primary Function Provides repair, MAC and installation services associated with all voice or data products serviced by the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Deal with customers in a friendly, positive manner to achieve excellent customer satisfaction and service.
  • Provide exceptional support for all service and MAC requests
  • Ensure that service and MAC Trouble Tickets that cannot be cleared are escalated to the appropriate resource in a timely manner.
  • Respond to errors generated by remote monitoring
  • Security of the lab equipment
  • Accurately input all relevant database information on completion of service and MAC requests
  • Update of pertinent information in Noc Doc on shared drive (in Sims when installed)
  • Provide support to other departments when required
  • Provide system site surveys as requested by other departments
  • Assist with any customer related issues or Sales projects where expertise is required
  • Site visits, usually after hours, to diagnose and correct persistent issues or to perform major upgrades.
  • After hours on call
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Technical Certifications on products Connex services (Avaya, Cisco (CCNA), Nortel).
  • College Degree or equivalent experience

Structured Cable Technician
Location All branches
Reports to Manager Field Services
Department Infrastructure
Primary Function

Reviews work orders and blueprints and installs cable to specifications and to building code standards.

Responsibilities
  • Runs CAT5E/6 and or fibre cable through raised floor or ceiling
  • Terminate cable at patch panel and ensures the cables are installed and secured properly as per the relevant provincial building code
  • Tests cables to ensure that they are working properly and labels each one
  • Fishes cable through walls and conduits
  • Installs phone jacks
Requirements
  • Minimum grade 12 education with cabling apprenticeship preferred
  • 5 years experience installing and terminating Fibre and CAT5E cable
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Nordx, Systemax, AMP certifications
  • Can perform either new installations or Moves, Adds and Changes
  • Reviews site drawings with site Contact to verify location of all stations
  • Reviews completed work with customer in order to get work sheet signed off
  • Safety training WHIMIS, Ladder, Power Tools
